Sani Festival 2015
A Feast of Music and Culture

Sani Festival is a music festival that started in 1993 and has become established over the course of 22 consecutive years as an event with its very own distinct character on the cultural map of our country. Along the way, Sani Festival gathered momentum as an event of international impact and this year it is happily organizing its 23th event, armed with hope and courage.

In this spirit, the aim of this year’s programme for Jazz on the Hill is to introduce the audience to internationally acclaimed jazz artists, featuring male jazz vocalists, such as Hugh Coltman, a promising upcoming star of the genre in his first and exclusive appearance in Greece, as well as Kurt Elling, one of the best-known figures of his metier, with numerous distinctions and awards, who is also giving just one concert in Greece.

There are four other jazz virtuosi, namely: Chris Potter, Dave Holland, Lionel Loueke and Eric Harland, who will make the best introduction to this pure-breed of improvisation jazz as they open this year’s Jazz on the Hill event.

Another significant music personality, one of the main and most famous representatives of world music, Salif Keita, is representing in a most unusual project the Sounds of the World module.

Finally, three special concerts, the content of which highlights Greek creativity in its entirety, through poetry, prose and music, make up the Greek Variations module:

The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy live on stage Elli Paspala and Vassilikos in a concert entitled Play, Dimitra Galani in a unique, audiovisual project titled Chronos, and Filippos Pliatsikas singing with the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki in a performance entitled The Other Side of Greece.
