Photography Exhibition About 19th and 20th Century Buildings in Athens and Their History
September 17 – September 30 2015

“The most beautiful buildings are situated in Athens. A recording program of the period 1830-1940” photography exhibition will be inaugurated on Thursday, September 17, at the Visitors Center of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Faliro, southern Athens, running through Wednesday, September 30, 2015. The display, showcasing a total of 85 photographs of private and public buildings of various functions and great architectural significance that were documented within the ambitious three-year urban research project “Recording and Promotion of the 19th and 20th century buildings in Athens,” is carried out with financial support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).Archaeologists Irini Gratsia and Stelios Lekakis, as well as architects Georgia Gomopoulou, Giorgos Ninos, Foteini Belliou and Zannis Pittakidis are among the main cosponsors of the exhibition that is organized by MONUMENTA, a non-profit civil company for the protection of the natural and architectural heritage of Greece and Cyprus, in cooperation with various Athenian organizations and several enthusiastic volunteers.
