Background of Dimitris Lytaris

Meteora it’s a part of me, as I was born in Meteora! I have literally spent almost all my life here. The caves and the rocks was my playground. Since I graduated in Bank Economics, I decided to establish Meteora Thrones, as I speak five languages fluently, and I wanted to pass all the knowledge I have for this place to the visitors. The over a hundred excellent reviews on TripAdvisor prove how much I love doing people enjoy their visit in our area.

Meteora Through The Eyes of Dimitris Lytaris

Magical, breathtaking, beautiful, stunning, and the list never ends; could you describe Meteora in five words?

Exciting, Mystical, Amazing, Adventurous, Unique

From the glorious monasteries of Meteora, the lovely village of Kastraki and the wonderful region of Aspropotamos, to the magnificent Aheloos River with its hiking trails, the verdant forest of Pindus Mountains, and the picturesque villages of Elati and Pertouli, the region of Trikala hides millions of mysteries. If you had to choose your favorite location in Trikala, what would that be?

Unquestionably, my favorite location would be Meteora because it’s something that you will never see anywhere else in the world. However, our region provides plenty of beautiful places that visitors have to see and cannot be missed.

Undeniably, Meteora is one of the most important religious monuments of Greece! Could you please give two to three reasons that the travellers of Mysterious Greece should travel to Meteora?

Meteora is a unique natural, cultural and religious phenomenon worldwide. The different views that the place offers at different times of season are something amazing. The Meteora monasteries are among the most striking sights in Greece. The name Meteora is Greek for “suspended in the air” which perfectly describes these six remarkable Greek Orthodox monasteries.

Meteora is one of the most important religious monuments of Greece. However, it has an unexplored side unknown to the majority of people. If you were going to give advice to the travellers of Mysterious Greece, where would you recommend them to go to acquire a complete image of the beauty of Meteora, and the wider region of Trikala?

My favorite spot is located on the hills of Kastraki village, where you can see all the rocks and enjoy the beauty of the place.

Not even one hour away from the sacred monasteries of Meteora, you will find the lovely villages of Aspropotamos, one of the most beautiful regions of Trikala. Have you ever visited the villages of Aspropotamos? If yes, could you please describe to us your experience?

The region of Aspropotamos villages (Chaliki, Anthousa, Krania, Katafyto, Milia, Agia Paraskevi, Kalliroi, Polythea, Stefani) is verdurous and on your way you will meet stone bridges, old mills and old churches. The river flows from the north to the south, in the mountainous area of Trikala countyside, in the north west Thessaly. It is a virgin landscape that is worth exploring.

Please describe to us an unforgettable moment of yours in the region of Trikala!

This would be on the best spot for the sunset in Meteora, when in the opposite side was the moonrise; a really magical moment!

What’s your favorite sunset spot in Meteora?

It’s very difficult to pick just one, but if I had to choose this would be the Panorama Rock!

Describe to us your top 5 List for things to do in the wider region of Trikala!

Visit Meteora and the Holy monasteries! Have dinner in Kastraki village and Kalambaka! Explore the Prehistoric Theopetra Cave! Drive around the Aspropotamos Vilages! Wander in the old district of Varoussi at Trikala town!
